It has always been my practice to cast a long paragraph in a single mould, to try it by my ear, to deposit it in my memory, but to suspend the action of the pen till I had given the last polish to my work.

What a Crass Jerk

I don't watch David Letterman. It's never been a conscious choice - I just don't have time or interest. Tonight, he was on our TV, by accident, following shows Tamara watched.

He said something to this effect:

John McCain, a true hero. Too bad he's such a chicken that he has to suspend his campaign and not show up at the debate and skip my show. I guess he lost his backbone in his Metamucil.
Yeah... that's not even funny. More reasons to never watch David's show.

This has already become the most polarizing election of my lifetime and its only going to get worse the next 6 weeks. I don't even try to hide my disdain for followers of "The One." The "No experience assclowns for President" sticker on the back window of my car didn't take long to get attention from his followers. $20 says I'll need a new window after the weekend. Good thing I have full glass coverage and some extra stickers. :)

I forgot to add I've never been a Letterman fan. Can't say I'm surprised at his comments. After seeing your post I ran across an article on the number of McCain jokes vs Obama (of course none for Obama).

I prefer Leno but honestly, I can't remember the last time I tuned in to either late night show. Same goes for Oprah.

I used to watch Letteman all the time. Mostly for the band, though. I stopped watching him years ago when he started coming across like he was way more important than he actually is. Carson had class and his show was always about the guest. Letterman is all about Letterman. I like Leno, though I don't watch him much.

Who does Letterman think he is, besides just another talking head. All the senators and congressmen went to washington to work on the crisis. Does letterman think his show is more important than our financial security?

Why on earth is McCain wasting his time with shows like Letterman or The View? The media turned on him the second after he secured the nomination. Cut the chord and move on.

Hot Air had a clip of Letterman with the caption "Grumpy Old Men." At least that was funny. And a message for NBC, get Olbermann off of your football shows!!!

If McCain is smart he'll turn 'Cuda loose on the media after the VP debate.

Great comments, all. And welcome, Guy - my wife heard your point and said, "That's what I'm saying!" :)

Ya know - where do you turn for news / entertainment when nearly every news / entertainment outlet bends over for The One?
