Random Quote Vonnegut said, 'When I write, I feel like an armless legless man with a crayon in his mouth.' So go ahead and make big scrawls and mistakes. Use up lots of paper. -- Anne Lamott

A couple of years ago, I invested money into people needing a loan through Prosper.com. Two are paid in full, and the other two are current, as you can see. The government, which shut it down to any participation outside of the state of California due to concerns about "risk," is full of ninnies. Viva freedom and self-determination. |

The government shut it down because they hate free market solutions to people's problems. Organizations like Prosper.com and Kiva.org are showing how powerful micro-finance can be in changing people's lives. In the case of Kiva, which primarily focuses its efforts outside of the United States where the regulatory barrier to start-ups is low; they are finding that people are utilizing these loans to start small businesses that radically improve their circumstances. The same forces could transform our inner cities, if bureaucrats would just back off. |
