A recent discovery being hailed as the unearthing of "the missing link" is a wonderful thing. I was listening to Limbaugh yesterday when he said that evolution of species doesn't happen. I thought he referred to chromosomal evolution - where a species mutates into a species that has a different chromosome count. That would be necessary if humans evolved from apes/monkeys. So can species evolve chromosome count? Evidently they can. Przewalski's horses have 66 chromosomes, whereas domestic horses carry only 64! The two can breed and produce offspring that have 65 chromosomes. Limbaugh was wrong. |
